I used to love making flipbooks in the late-70’s/early-80’s. Movie equipment & film stock was so expensive it was out of the question, so flipbooks were actually the cheapest way to make cartoons. Mine were usually done with close to a hundred hand-drawn 1.5 inch square images stacked on 3 inch card stock, then wrapped in tape on the side they’re supposed to be held. I called this one GREY BRAINS.
RICK TREMBLES is a Montreal-based illustrator, post-underground cartoonist, writer, filmmaker, & musician. Two books of his “Motion Picture Purgatory” comix have been published by the UK’s FAB Press. Two collections of his autobiographical comix “Represented Immobilized” (featuring an intro by author Heather O’Neill) & “The Rick Trembles Weakly Dispatch” (featuring an intro by Robert Crumb) are available from Conundrum Press.
